Welcome

Hi, we’re Amanda and Elliot!

We’re a married couple from Ohio who share a love of Formula 1!

Elliot grew up watching Formula 1 races with his British dad, who was himself involved in the racing industry in his younger years. Elliot remembers his fandom being solidified in 1992 (Elliot would have been about 8) when Nigel Mansell won the World Championship for Williams, as “he had the same mustache as my dad!”

I (Amanda) am a newer fan to Formula 1 racing – but it was inevitable after moving in with Elliot! I started passively watching races in the mid-2010s, finally got hooked by Netflix’s “Drive to Survive,” and now follow the sport alongside Elliot.

Forget football. Sundays are Race Days in our house!

Besides Formula 1 racing, Elliot’s hobbies include taekwondo (he’s a 6th Dan black belt), cycling, video games, and tinkering/picking up new skills. My main hobbies include traveling (I’m a full-time travel blogger), photography, and binging Netflix shows.

We live in Ohio (for now) with our ginger cat named Weasley!

Fun fact about us: My (Amanda) last name is Williams and Elliot’s last name is Grove. So it’s only fitting that our favorite F1 team is Williams, which is based in Grove, England!

About On the Grid Travel

We started On the Grid Travel in 2025 to further meld our love of both Formula 1 racing and travel. I (Amanda) am a full-time travel blogger with a journalism background, and Elliot retains a stupid amount of F1 info and trivia in his brain at all times (literally, when we went on a paddock tour at the USGP a few years ago, our NASCAR driver guide told Elliot he should probably be the one leading the tour).

This site aims to not only be a guide for traveling to Formula 1 races, but to also cover all the cool F1-related things you can do around the world, from track tours to museum exhibits to race watch parties and more.

The majority of what we cover comes from personal experience, plus Elliot’s encyclopedic knowledge of F1 history. And it’s 100% written by me (Amanda).
